In what can be a crazy, baffling world, grounding is a really valuable focus for daily practice.
What else can be helpful to practice and to cultivate? This is a very personal question and is always evolving, but there are two particular flavours of practice that I return to often:
This is big (and beautiful) life stuff – to be taken slowly, gently, with a lot of compassion and openness to whatever comes up in any practice. There is nothing in particular to achieve, no shoulds, no judgement. Some links to some beautiful guided practices along these lines from Chris Cullen and Tara Brach:

“Your task is not to seek for love, but merely to seek and find all the barriers within yourself that you have built against it.”
~Rumi I have found this incredibly helpful to meditate upon. Are judgement or blame here? Maybe stemming from fear? Or something else? Whatever is here, it's ok. This is such human and tender stuff. It is deeply supportive to practise using ‘RAIN’ when working with difficult thoughts and emotions: Recognize what is happening; Allow the experience to be there, just as it is; Investigate with interest and care; Nurture with self-compassion. Go very gently and sensitively here. It's ok and often wise to dip your toe in, listening carefully to your intuition. And it's a life's work. We’re excited to be offering the 8-week ‘Mindfulness for Life’ course in South Oxfordshire from September. Come and join us to explore how we can grow awareness and compassion through mindfulness practice, in a welcoming and supportive space.
Practising mindfulness is a lifelong path – it helps us make sense of difficulty, and to notice the good stuff, so that we can take care of ourselves and others. We trained to teach at the world-renowned Oxford Mindfulness Centre having experienced the benefits of the course in our own lives. Do get in touch if you would like to chat further about the course. https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/mindfulness-for-life-8-week-… |
