Adult mindfulness courses
We teach 4-week introductory Mindfulness meditation courses (5 hours over 4 sessions) and the in-depth 8-week ‘MBCT for Life’ course (22 hours) developed by the world-renowned Oxford Mindfulness Centre. Both courses are suitable for beginners.
Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy represents a coming together of ancient wisdom and modern science, and is supported by a growing body of rigorous, evidence-based research. Working with the mind and body, we will support you to develop a greater awareness of your experience, and explore new ways of relating to this. Greater awareness and understanding opens up new possibilities for responding more skilfully, so that we can better take care of ourselves and others.
The courses are highly experiential, with emphasis on the insights and discoveries made through exploring experience from moment to moment. Sessions consists of mindfulness practices, cognitive-behavioural exercises and group discussion, facilitated by the course teachers. We provide online resources to continue with daily home practice between the weekly sessions.

Why start on the path of practising mindfulness?
Mindfulness – having a heart and mind that are present, and open to everything – is a capacity that we can all nurture and develop at any stage of our lives.
Practising mindfulness can help us:
You can’t stop the waves but you can learn to surf.

Mindfulness – having a heart and mind that are present, and open to everything – is a capacity that we can all nurture and develop at any stage of our lives.
Practising mindfulness can help us:
- Notice when we are operating on automatic pilot
- Steady ourselves in our body when our minds feel scattered in all directions
- Notice when we are caught in reacting, and choose a more skilful response
- Recognise and respond to unhelpful thought patterns
- Cultivate kindness, compassion and joy
- Live with a greater sense of ease and balance
- Rediscover what it is to be a human being (rather than a human constantly doing!)
You can’t stop the waves but you can learn to surf.

‘I learnt so much! I found I already used some parts but there is so much more to weave into my life. I loved the feeling of being welcomed and that we were all valued.’
‘I have learnt that it is a gradual process of practising to incline the mind and find a sense of space. I know this will benefit me immensely and my family.’
